Generic Conduit Manager for the Pilot

To everyone who is taking this:

NEWS The GCM now has a version available for HotSync 2.0. Test mode only.
There is an extra step required for installation on some systems. If you get an 'error loading from file' error, please perform this extra step.
GCM24 is for HotSync 1.1 only. It will probably not work with Ascend 1.2 (but it won't cause any harm<g>)
None of these programs will work with HotSync 2.0. I will update this site as soon as the conversion is done.
These programs are for Windows95/WindowsNT only.

DinkyVw.zip allows you to view and edit DinkyPad files. Use GCM (above) to transfer the data to and from the Pilot
CBasVw.zip allows you to view and edit CBasPad program files. Use GCM (above) to transfer data to and from the Pilot
MoneyVw.zip allows you to view and print PilotMoney data. Use GCM (above) to transfer data from the Pilot to the PC, or, optionally, use the Pilot backup files. I also have a newer, test version 0.7 available; please let me know how it works for you. Another, better version of this app is available at the StingerSoft site; these apps were developed cooperatively; if you decide to use the Stingersoft version, be aware that it renames your pmoney.pdb data file! Watch for a new version soon (late March)

The Programs

GenCond.dll/GenCn20.dll

is the heart of the Conduit Manager system

CondMgr.exe

is a VB app to manage the installation and removal of GenCond conduits

cbasView.exe

is a VB app to view, create or delete entries for the cbasPad application

DinkyVw.exe

is a VB app to view, create, delete, import, export/save or print entries for the DinkyPad Pilot application

DinkVwA.dll

contains support services for DinkyVw.exe; it must be in the same directory as DinkyVw.exe

MoneyVw.exe

is a VB app to view Pilot Money data on your PC. This app is the result of the combined efforts of Jeremy Laurenson and myself. Jeremy (SingerSoft) has released his version, so I have renamed mine to MoneyVw to distinguish it.

The GenCond.dll requires MSVCRT40.DLL The VB programs require VB40032.DLL & OLEPRO32.DLL. T

New App Note

If you have installed the GCM13 (HotSync 1.0 version), you can back up Dovcom's really nice PAL (Pilot Application Launcher). Go to the Conduit Manager, and select Install/InstallNewConduit. Set

Conduit Name = PAL
DataFileName = pal.dat
DataDirectory = pal
CreatorKey = PApL
PilotDBName = PALDB

Because this app uses categories, and the generic conduit does not support category merging, I recommend that you only sync the data either: PilotToPC or PCtoPilot or (none). This conduit is built-in to GCM23/24

QuickSheet

If you are using the QuickSheet program from Cutting Edge, do not bother trying to set up a generic conduit for it; it will not work. Also, if you use the global-backup facility of GCM23/24, you may find QuickSheet .pdb files in your backup directory. Do not bother trying to send these back to the Pilot. They are (effectively) useless.

Cutting Edge will release a proper conduit for this program in the near term, probably Q2/97.

DinkyPad Conduit

If you wish to use the Dinkypad Conduit from RedTail Software, you must 'remove' the DinkyView conduit. It is not enought to set the 'disable' checkbox; you must 'remove' the conduit.

Extra Step

If this is the first VB4 app that you have installed in your system, you have to 'register' one of the components.

Please:

download regsrvr32.exe; copy it to your c:\windows\system
from a DOS box, go to c:\windows\system and run "regsvr32.exe comdlg32.ocx"
